Second Training of Trainers took place in Zhanjiang, China

On March 19-20, 2019, the second Training of Trainers took place in Zhanjiang, China. The topic of the Training was Intellectual Property Policies for Universities. The Aim, the Structure and the Content. The Training was organized and hosted by Lingnan Normal University.

The workshops were delivered by the experts from the European partner universities:

- Dr. Dariusz Kasprzycki and Dr. Jakub Chwalba, Intellectual Property Law Chair of Jagiellonian University;

- Ms. Noelia López, Senior Project Manager, International Project Management Office, University of Alicante;

- Mr. Rafał Malujda, Attorney at Law, Patent Attorney.

During the 2-day Training, the trainers discussed IP Policies at the Universities, from the general overview of the role and importance of IP Policies to the universities, to the basic content of IP Policies, to the specific issues to be covered by IP Policies.

In particular, the trainers presented examples of IP Policies adopted by EU partner universities, as well as other examples and model solutions, IP protection strategies, commercialization routes, revenue sharing and other rewards / incentives for researchers. The final module of the Training was devoted to management of copyrighted research results and other related issues.

Additionally, Mr. SHEN Jian, Director of IP Management Office, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Construction at Renmin University of China, delivered an insightful presentation on IP management practices at universities in China.

The Training was attended by more than 60 participants from 14 Chinese HEIs.

The next CIPnet Training of trainers is scheduled to take place in Tianjin, China, on November 7-8, 2019, to be hosted by Nankai University. The details of the third Training will be provided shortly.
