MEMBER POLICY

CIPnet should actively recruit members to join this project, with a view to fostering modernisation, harmonisation and strategic planning of IP management practices, and regional integration in Higher Education of China. CIPnet members can be roughly divided into three categories according to their identities. The first type of members are mainly higher education institutions, scientific research institutions and enterprises. They can participate in the project for free in the first year of the project. After the one-year period expires, they can choose to pay to maintain their membership or withdraw from the project. Of course, the seven existing contact point universities of the project must sign up to become members. The second type of members are mainly social institutions related to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of universities, such as law firms and patent agencies. The fees and contracting modes of such institutions can be consistent with the first type of members. However, since the second type of membership is not the main beneficiary group of the CIPnet project, its membership fee should be lower than the first type of membership. The third type of members are mainly related government agencies and some non-governmental organizations. The purpose of developing such members is to expand the influence of the project and increase the opportunities for the project to participate in the construction of the intellectual property transformation system of Chinese higher education institutions. Therefore, such members can pay less or no membership fees.

CIPnet project members can participate in training activities held by CIPnet contact point universities for free, obtain online training resources of CIPnet project, and can also obtain relevant legal services provided by CIPnet contact point universities for free or at a low price. The first type of membership also has the potential to become the contact point of the CIPnet project.

In addition, the CIPnet will also creatively recruit individual members to register. The participation mode of individual members is similar to that of group members. They can participate in the project for free in the first year of the project. After the one-year period expires, they can choose to pay to maintain their membership or withdraw from the project. The cost standard will be lower than that of group members. After becoming an individual member of CIPnet project, you can participate in some training activities held by CIPnet contact universities and obtain some network training resources of CIPnet project for free.
